Okay so maybe don't draft Eddie lacy is a little harsh, what I mean is lower your expectations. Everyone knows how incredibly bad Eddie Lacy’s stats were last year, and yet I still see someone take him early in the second round in almost every mock draft I do. As a previous Lacy owner I know exactly how it felt to spend a first round pick on him last year. Now before I get into the reason I’m not drafting lacy with a second round pick, let’s look at just how bad lacy was last year just in case you forgot. His rushing and receiving combined didn't even crack 1,000 yards, and he only combined to score five touchdowns. That put him at RB #25 one spot behind his "backup' James Starks, and behind guys like Charles Sims, Rashad Jennings, and Danny Woodhead. That is not good considering his ADP going into last season was 3rd overall in standard scoring. I say all this because I feel like many people are so quick to forget just how bad Lacy was and are ready to hop back on the bandwagon as soon as they heard he lost some weight. His ten team standard scoring ADP right now is round 2 pick 7. Now look I’m not saying he won’t have a bounce back year because I do believe he will, but he is being drafted too high in my opinion. He has already shown that he actually has quite a low floor, and his backup isn’t a scrub. The packers are always going to be a pass first offense as long as Aaron Rodgers is around. So why is everybody so quick to begin drafting Lacy so high again? Because of the news that broke about him training with P90X creator, Tony Horton. It was reported that Lacy lost 15 to 20 pounds, and you could hear the whistle of the hype train rolling in. People immediately started having faith in him again. This is what I don’t understand, yes Lacy was out of shape last season, but he plays a physical style of running similar to Marshawn Lynch and Jerome Bettis. He isn’t supposed to be the fastest or the most agile guy on the field, but what he is supposed to do is read the defense, find the holes, and exploit them which he couldn’t seem to do at all last season. With all of that being said Eddie lacy does have a pretty easy schedule ahead of him so a comeback season could be there if he can stay healthy. Per fantasypros.com Lacy has the easiest schedule to start the season and then a middle of the pack strength of schedule for the second half. It is true that the packers as a whole had a terrible season last year collectively so maybe we should give them all a pass, but to me lacy has shown disappointment on many occasions. Dating back to each of his first few seasons, he has always started off slow, last year he just never really got hot as he did in previous years. So just be cautious with Lacy, think before you draft him at the start of the second round. Thanks for reading and I would love to hear from others who might have a different opinion!
